THERE IS NO PRE-REGISTRATION FOR ZERO GRAVITY.  EVERYONE WILL NEED TO FILL OUT A SIMPLE INFO SHEET AND A COVID WAIVER AT TRYOUTS.  PLAYERS CAN ATTEND ONE OR BOTH TRYOUT DATES, WITH THE SECOND TRYOUT ATTENDED BEING FREE.  WE WILL CONSIDER PLAYERS FROM BOTH TRYOUTS EQUALLY.  THE SECOND DATE IS NOT A “CALL BACK”, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ANYONE THAT CAN NOT MAKE THE FIRST DATE. IF YOU CAN ATTEND BOTH DATES IT WILL GIVE US A BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO EVALUATE YOU. ALSO, IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE THE TRYOUT TIME FOR YOUR AGE LEVEL, PLEASE CONTACT ME AND WE WILL HAVE YOU COME IN WITH A DIFFERENT AGE LEVEL TO TRYOUT.

Fees are all inclusive and will again be $750/player (14-18U/10-12 tournament dates) and $320/player (12-13U/4 tournaments) in 2022. A detailed description and payment schedule will be available at zgvb.wordpress.com

When choosing a team/club and looking at fees please take the time to look at what you receive for the fees paid.  Are there any additional fees (practices, uniforms, coaches fees, Regionals, etc)?  How many tournament dates will you get to play?  Some clubs only play 5-6 tournaments while others play double that.  Are practices scheduled on weekends and the team only practices when they don’t have a tournament?  Accepting an offer from a club is a binding decision for the year.  Please take the time to find the best fit for you and your daughter.

All players and parents need to understand that if they receive an offer from ANY club they have 10 days after the first try-out date for their age level to make a decision.  DO NOT LET ANY CLUB, CLUB DIRECTOR, OR COACH TELL YOU ANY DIFFERENT. If you receive an offer to be on a team, that offer stands until your signing day.  Too many times we call a player to offer them a position on a Zero Gravity team and they tell us they would love that spot, but they accepted an offer somewhere else because they thought they had to accept it right away so they didn’t lose it.  Now, if your #1 choice of clubs gives you an offer take it!  That makes it easier for clubs to be fair to other players when making offers/signing players.  If anyone has questions about the try-out procedures please contact us.  We will be more than happy to help.

Again this year YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN OVR JUNIOR TRYOUT MEMBERSHIP CARD WITH YOU. This card is $10.00 and is in addition to the tryout fee. It must be shown the day of tryouts to participate. You can get your card by registering yourself on the OVR website (www.ovr.org). Remember you are only getting a TRYOUT MEMBERSHIP CARD at this time. You will complete your registration later.  Tryout fee is $15, paid on the day of try-outs. PLEASE WEAR A SHIRT WITH YOUR LAST NAME AND SCHOOL ON IT IF POSSIBLE and especially this year please arrive 30-60 minutes early in order to check in and get ready to go.

Masks are required by all in attendance unless on the court playing, and I’m sorry to say that because of Covid restrictions parents will not be allowed to stay for try-outs this year. After completing your paperwork, registering your daughters, and paying your $15 parents will continue around the gym and and be able to remain in the cafeteria or exit out of the back of the building. Players will be released out the same doors at the completion of their try-out. I will be contacting all parents/players each day after try-outs.

If you need to come late or leave early because of another commitment or tryout we will accommodate you.  Please contact me ahead of time to set this up.  Any other questions or concerns please contact Chuck Musselman at 330-685-2890 or ogrvity@yahoo.com

We are planning on running 14-18 year old teams, as well as a 12U developmental team that will play a limited tournament schedule for $320/player if the interest is there. If the talent permits we will run American level teams and try to qualify teams for Nationals through the Bid Play-In Tournament and the Bid Tournament.  Zero Gravity has twice qualified non-National teams for Nationals since the inception of the Bid Play-In Tournament.  This allows us to keep fees low while still playing at the highest level possible.

Another Gold Championship for ZG Combo Team at East Palestine HS

Maybe our season wasn’t over. There was an opening at East Palestine HS so a few of our young ladies decided to spend Mothers Day in a gym and play a little more volleyball, and did they play!! Throwing together kids from multiple teams with no practice didn’t seem to matter as our young ladies played their hearts out and brought home another Gold Championship for Zero Gravity. They went 10-0 on the day, which included pool play wins over Hollywood Quarterman, Morgantown, and Pittsburgh Point. The Gold Play-offs was a Tinseltown affair with wins over Hollywood Hackney and Hollywood Lowe in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. After being down 9 points in set one and 8 points in set two in the Gold Finals, Zero Gravity fought back and defeated a very good Empire team 25-23, 25-22. Team members included Madison Weisel, Tatiana Moore, Emma Bourquin, Hannah Dang, Notoria Barnes, Madie ElFaye, Lehla Schlabach, Tori Wilson, and Sara Maarschalk. Congratulations Ladies!!

–2021 Zero Gravity Juniors–

As of today Zero Gravity will be running as usual in 2021 while adhering to all rules and guidelines set forth by the OHSAA, the Ohio Department of Health, and USAV. As we all know this is uncharted territory for everyone, and we are all at the mercy of the virus as well as state and local policies pertaining to how to deal with it. We also know we will have to be more flexible than ever entering this season.
